Bursary Recipient – Ncami Malinga

I completed my matric with three distinctions at Ingula High School which is based in Ladysmith KZN. From there I went to Durban University of Technology to study a National Diploma in Cost and Management Accounting.

My first year at DUT was hectic because I hadn’t received a bursary or funding from NSFAS. I remember my mother had to borrow money from her employer so that she could pay my tuition and residence fees.

It was late in November 2016 when I received a call from Pyrotec. At first, I didn’t believe it when they told me that my application was successful. Three days after it was made official, Pyrotec emailed me some documents to sign.

In May I will be graduating from DUT and if I hadn’t received a bursary from Pyrotec it might not be happening. I thank God every day for the bursary I received from Pyrotec. The company is funding my studies, including tuition, accommodation and textbooks.

My dream is to be a management accountant at one of the leading companies in Africa and that includes Pyrotec. After I graduate, I will go straight to CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants).
